There are some very nice guesthouses by the river

Melaka is well versed with entertaining tourists and there are a selection of accommodation choices for all tastes and budgets. Backpackers will find a selection of dorm beds for just a few dollars with a host of communal facilities, whilst those with a little more cash to splash will find some charming colonial mansions with period furnishings such as four poster beds. Melaka hotels are generally more expensive than elsewhere in Malaysia but are normally of a higher standard and so offer consistently good value for money.

Budget Melaka guesthouses are found in either the old heritage centre where there are atmosphere-rich hotels in typical old terraces, or in the new business downtown of Taman Melaka Raya constructed on reclaimed land a few minutes walk to the east of the old city. As it is easy to stroll all around town there is no wrong area to stay in Melaka, so trust our recommended choices below.
